Silox Sand Binder 927 for the production of high-strength joint mortar (15 kg)

SILOX-Fugenfest is a binder for producing high-strength joint mortar from sand. Silox Fugenfest is easy to process and features fast and reliable curing. Modern resin/hardener systems are used. Our products contain no solvents, and the potential for irritation is low. Silox 927 is a 2-component epoxy resin binder, solvent-free, and suitable for dry, damp, and even wet quartz sand (and other granular aggregates).

Areas of application

For the production of air- and water-permeable paving joints, as well as for light-traffic paths, tree grates, and similar applications in landscaping and gardening.

Properties

The hardener for SILOX-927 is a special polyaminoamide. This product is characterized by a long processing time for mixtures, elasticity, and very good adhesion, even on wet substrates. Resin component: liquid epoxy resin, modified. Hardener: polyamine adduct. Mixing ratio: 1:2 by volume (resin to hardener). Density (mixed): approx. 1.05. Processing time: 150-200 minutes at 20°C. Minimum temperature: 10°C. Accessible: 24 - 36 hours after installation (at 20°C). Water-permeable mortars can only be produced using sufficiently coarse aggregates without cohesive components and without fine powder (flour). Mixtures of grain fractions between 0.4 - 1 mm with the most uniform grain distribution possible are ideally suited. The use of coarse single-grain mixtures is not recommended. The two SILOX components are either premixed separately - by hand in the MixPack, or when taken from large containers, appropriately mixed with a mixing machine (drill with a stirring propeller or helical stirrer) in a bucket - and then mixed with the aggregates in a forced-action mixer, or added directly to the forced-action mixer before the aggregates. The standard addition amount for the production of water- and air-permeable joints and surfaces is approx. 4-5 wt.% SILOX binder, based on the weight of the mineral components (aggregates) of the mixture. The necessary amount of binder depends on the grain size and grain distribution (grading curve) of the aggregates. As the proportion of fine grain particles in the mixture increases, the binder requirement increases significantly.
