DuroFlex 678-PRO - Topcoat, Sealer and Protective Coating

Topcoat, Sealer and Protective Coating DuroFlex 678-PRO is a wear-resistant and exceptionally durable protective coating for mineral surfaces and reaction resin coatings. The binder is a hybrid resin of polyurethane and acrylates emulsified in water. Films of DuroFlex 678-PRO are completely colorless, matte, highly abrasion-resistant, and chemically very stable. They are weather-resistant and do not yellow, even under intense UV radiation. DuroFlex 678-PRO is recommended as a protective coating for

• l Cement, anhydrite, magnesite, and mastic asphalt screeds

• l Epoxy and PUR resin coatings

The matte finish of this sealer effectively prevents the often distracting reflections of glossy coatings, thereby masking any potential unevenness, trowel marks, etc.

Substrate As with all coatings, the substrate for DuroFlex 678-PRO must be sufficiently load-bearing and dry. Loose parts, dirt, dust, and oily or greasy residues (release agents!) must be removed. DuroFlex coatings and other reaction resins should be coated immediately after setting, but no later than 48 hours after application. DuroFlex 678-PRO consists of two components. They are supplied pre-packaged in the correct ratio and must be thoroughly mixed before use. A machine should always be used for mixing. Devices with low speed (e.g., electronically adjustable drills) and a mixing paddle or propeller are particularly well-suited. The finished mixed product must be homogeneous and free of streaks. As a rule, a mixing time of approx. 3 minutes is necessary for a perfect mixture. Multi-component products should always be transferred to a second container after mixing and stirred once more. This “re-potting” prevents the processing of inhomogeneous material and is an important part of the mixing process, even for this product. DuroFlex 678-PRO is generally applied in just one coat. Application is best carried out by evenly rolling out thinly with a short-pile roller. For large areas, however, the product can also be spread with a rubber squeegee and then leveled with rollers.

The pot life of multi-component products is influenced by the ambient temperature, and the setting time is also influenced by the temperature of the substrate.

To avoid surface defects*, the temperature of the substrate during the application of such coating materials must be at least 3° above the dew point temperature. *Staining, clouding, white blanching... Particular care during application is recommended in case of strong air movement or direct sunlight. Films of DuroFlex 678 dry physically - especially in thin layers - by evaporation of the water before the actual crosslinking reaction with the hardener takes place. The risk of so-called “lap marks” is then particularly high. This DuroFlex product can also be applied in multiple layers. For perfect adhesion between layers, subsequent coats should be applied within 24 hours.
